Miller Rod & Gun, Inc. conducts
the Concealed Carry Firearms Course (CCW) in
accordance with the National Rifle Association (NRA) and the
Attorney General’s office of the State of Ohio. The CCW course we teach is designed
for the active shooter as well as the new shooter.
The foundation is based on the NRA’s Basic Pistol Shooting
Course which emphasizes the basic knowledge, skills, and attitudes
necessary for owning and using a pistol safely.
Through this minimum 12-hour classroom and live-fire course, the
student will learn about handgun parts and operation, firearms safety,
ammunition, and shooting fundamentals.
We will review parts of the Ohio Concealed Carry Law and how it
applies to those who want to apply for a license to carry a concealed
firearm in the State of Ohio. This course will satisfy mandated
training required to apply for a Concealed Handgun License (CHL) in the
State of Ohio. All classes
are conducted by experienced, qualified NRA Certified and/or Ohio Peace
Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) Trained Instructors. We conduct our course utilizing the
concept of discovery learning, or “hands-on” learning.
Hands-on activities are designed to reinforce the student’s
learning experience with instruction in the following areas: safe
firearm handling; firearm parts and operation; ammunition and its
function’ how to select and store a firearm and ammunition; shooting
fundamentals and an opportunity to develop this knowledge on the range. The course also includes guidance on
how students can develop and apply their new skills through
participation in various clubs and shooting programs. Participants will receive a copy of
the “Ohio Concealed Carry Laws” Handbook and the NRA’s 119-page
“Basic Pistol Shooting” Handbook on which we base the course
material. You will also
receive a Concealed Handgun License Application and numerous Print-Outs
and Brochures as well as a folder in which to keep everything.
Upon completing the course and scoring satisfactory on the
examinations, you will receive a Course Completion Wallet Card, a
“Basic Pistol” Patch, a Competency Statement, and an attractive
Course Completion Certificate. The
Certificate, along with payment and 2 color photos taken within 30 days,
may be used to apply for a permit to carry a concealed firearm in the
